The Truth about My Misery
From the moment I ended up in that strange place, I knew I will never belong. They have people here, who kill mercilessly for no reason. They use brainwashed dogs and people to do their dirty jobs. And if anybody refuses their way, they will kill you. Today I lost Ann; the girl I’ve been staying with. Her family was very nice to me, and accepted me into their home. They found out that Ann helped their people rebel, so they sent one of their dogs after her, se was torn to bits right on the spot. I have met with the three men that rule this unruly world. They all look the same, except for their difference in height. They all wear blue military uniforms and the three of them have long straight white hair. They all look like clones of each other. They said they chose me as their new leader and that I shouldn’t have any contact with the others. I told them I didn’t, and they proclaimed me the ruler. But yet when I asked them if I may change things around a bit, they refused. I saw Ann’s parents today. They were walking around like ordinary people, except Ann wasn’t with them. I miss her; she was special, different from the others. Well, at least I have Rex with me still. Rex is a German shepherd, a black one, he’s the only dog I know who’s not completely brainwashed, Rex never leaves my side. I was taken to their base today. The place was quite plain. White walls, long hallways, and boxed in rooms, it all looked like some horrible sci-fi movie. I watched as some of the commoners were dragged around and beaten, then they were taken to the execution chambers. “What are the execution chambers?” I asked the tall general, who seamed to be the leader. “The execution chambers are reformation facilities.” He explained to me. “We take the unruly and convince them to change their ways.” “But what if they choose not to change their ways? What then?” I continued asking him, but he just glared at me and kept quiet. I will never understand this strange government. And I finally found out what they really do in the execution chambers, execution, that is. I cannot believe my own foolishness. Believing that they actually talk to the rebels, they take them into these rooms, and they leave them there to stay. But what they don’t know that people actually witness these happenings. Then they unleash the mutated cats, or the dogs, to tear the rebels apart. “This is what’ll happen to the rebels, who rebel against our government.” They announce on the large TV screens. They keep the people in fear and that is how they rule most of this world. I went to visit Ann’s parents today, even thought I announced that I had nothing to do with these people, which was a lie. I entered their house and went straight into the living room and I walk to the counter. I looked down at Ann’s photo and sighed, then I looked for Ann’s parents, but they were no-where to be found. I guess they’ve just moved or escaped somewhere. Either way I hoped that they were safe.I returned back to the base and walked through the empty hallways. It was surprisingly quiet around there. I looked around and decided to follow one of the soldiers that headed to the execution chambers. I noticed that he looked at me before he entered the back room. “Would you like to come in and take a look sir?” “Yes. I’d like to.” I replied to him and entered with him. The room lit up with light and you could see the other room through a large screen. I saw Ann’s parents and my eyes widened. “Tell me, soldier, why are they in the execution chambers?” I demanded. “They are rebel’s sir. They deserve to be executed.” “May I go in with them?” I asked, looking at him intently. “Very well sir.” I went into the other room and Ann’s parents looked at me. Ann’s mother crawled towards me and grabbed onto my shirt tightly, gripping it. “They’ve got Ann! She’s in one of the torture rooms!” she looked up at me with quite the crazed eyes. But then they unleashed the dogs, I grabbed onto one of their collars to keep the dog away from the two. The dog turned and was about to tare me to shreds. I turned and looked if Rex was around, but there was no sight of him. That day I returned home with a wounded arm and pride, I fought off the dogs but the dogs tore Ann’s parents to bits. But then I remembered that Ann was still alive. I walked into my own house and took Rex with me; this time if I’ll get attacked Rex would be by my side. I arrived at the base and entered it. It was empty, all the workers and guards went home for the night. I walked through the torture chamber halls, peering into each room, but there was no sight of Ann. “Hay Rex…” I pulled out a cloth that I ripped off of Ann’s clothing when she was taken away and gave it to Rex to sniff. “Go find this scent.” Rex sniffed at it a little and ran foreword. I immediately ran after him, hoping that I’d see Ann again. Rex stopped in front of a large metallic door and scratched at it. I ran up and stood there peering in. to my surprise I indeed saw Ann. I punched in the code and the door opened. I ran in and hugged Ann close to my chest “Ann! Ann! Speak to me!” I looked at her. She didn’t really seam to respond much, she just looked at me emptily, as if her soul was absent. “Ann, I’ll get you out of here…” I pulled at her arm, but she refused to move, backing away into the wall, her eyes were struck by fear. “What happened? What are you afraid of?” She shook her head and covered her face with her palms. “Ann…” I bent down and picked her up in my arms and began to carry her out. She grabbed onto my shirt as I was surrounded by soldiers. “Ichiru Kato, you are accused of helping a traitor escape; you will pay by being locked up in this torture chamber, with this insane girl, until further notice.” I didn’t mind staying with Ann, but when they dragged Rex away with them worry struck my heart. Ann looked up at me and then back at the door as it was shut again. I put her back down and sat next to her. “I’ll try to get us out a bit later, when they will leave.” I nodded at her. As if to assure her I meant her no harm. Ann just hugged her knees and looked at the ground. A few hours had passed and they closed the whole building. “Now is our chance Ann.” I said to her and moved closed to the door. Punching in the numbers to my surprise the door opened, I picked up Ann again and carried her out. “I have to find Rex too.” I mumbled to myself and walked in the direction they took him. Ann laid in my arms quietly, looking at wherever we were going. I ended up in a room. “Rex!” I called but there was no reply. I knew where the dog facility was and I knew they didn’t take Rex there. I had no idea where they took him or if my loyal dog was still with me. I put Ann down and entered where his room was. The room was empty. I looked around again and I kneeled in front of the dog house, there laid Rex’s collar. I picked it up and stroke it. That day I had lost too many people. I carried Ann home and sat her on my bed. I wasn’t going to stay there long. I grabbed a few supplies and put on a backpack. I grabbed Ann’s arm and we fled that place. I hope I never return there again.
